Delta allows animals to fly in the cabin if they fit comfortably within the carrier and can slide under the seat directly in front of you. One carrier is permitted per passenger, and this will count toward your carry-on allowance. The airline imposes a set of restrictions to ensure the comfort and safety of everyone onboard the flight.

Delta is committed to accommodating passengers with animals, but you should review their pet policy to ensure your pet is a good candidate for air travel. To make sure you can successfully fly with a pet in the cabin, here is the information you need to know.

…HAVE EVERYTHING?

How much does it cost to fly a carry-on pet on Delta?
$125 for flights in the US, Canada, or Puerto Rico, $200 for international flights, and $75 for Brazil.

How many animals/pets are allowed on each flight?
The exact number varies by flight. However, there is a limit of 8 animals for most aircrafts: 2 in 1st class, 2 in business class, and 4 in the main cabin.

What animals are allowed on Delta Airlines flights?
Dogs, cats, and household birds.

What are the basic carrier requirements?
Delta allows soft- and hard-sided kennels that are leak-proof and ventilated on at least 2 sides. The carrier must fit under the seat in front of you, but check your aircraft’s specific dimensions when making a seat reservation.

What pet travel forms are required?
No additional documentation is required of animals traveling in the cabin. However, your destination may require additional materials.

How old should my pet be?
At least 10 weeks old to travel domestically, 15 weeks for travel to Europe, and 16 weeks for other international flights.

Are there any additional carrier restrictions?
Your pet must be small enough to fit comfortably in the container without touching or protruding from the sides. He should be able to move around comfortably. Additionally, the kennel must fit under the seat directly in front of you. Though maximum carry-on dimensions will be determined by your flight, we recommend contacting Delta Reservations to determine the appropriate kennel size directly after booking. Your pet must remain inside the carrier (with the door secured) for the duration of the flight.
