Online information about Istanbul Airport pet relief areas is sparse. Most international airports do not have designated pet relief stations at indoor, post-security locations, so this is not surprising. The Istanbul Airport pet policy webpage informs passengers about a pet room and pet relief area located on the Departures floor after security. The terminal maps do not include any further information about locations for indoor pet relief.

The airport’s website also has a page for “pet rooms,” which appear to be temporary lodging for animals traveling through. Rather than a quick place to stop for a bathroom break, these pet rooms look like they are designed to hold animals while you wait for your flight. The Istanbul Airport pet policy says there is a designated check-in counter and that this amenity is available free of charge.

What to Expect from an Istanbul Airport Pet Relief Area

The airport-provided Istanbul Airport pet relief area photo features a small, tiled room with a linoleum and faux grass floor. There is a faucet by the grassy section of the room, which we suspect is used for cleaning. It also appears that food and water are provided by airport personnel.

Since there is only one indoor pet relief area, your pet might also need to use an outdoor green space prior to traveling through security. Luckily, there appears to be space widely available outside of the main departures area. Remember to bring a bag and dispose of all waste.
