Assistance animals are welcome to travel with passengers who have disabilities. Certain exemptions are provided to these animals, but some rules and restrictions still apply. San Antonio Airport Pet Relief Areas
San Antonio Airport boasts three pet relief areas. The pre-security pet relief area is located in Terminal B near the Chapel and Airport Information Desk. There are two post-security pet relief areas. Terminal A’s pet relief area is located near Gate A14. Terminal B’s pet relief area is located near Gate B6.

Pet Travel Tips for San Antonio International Airport
If you are bringing an animal into the terminal with you, you should know that there are many dogs in the airport providing services and additional security. For this reason, no animals besides service dogs are allowed to be in the terminal outside of a crate or carrier. Service animals such as seeing eye dogs must be leashed.
For your own convenience when traveling with a pet, consider packing the supplies you might need for them while on a layover at the top of a bag or in an easily accessible purse. Spare plastic baggies, water dishes, and anything else your pet regularly needs to have with them. San Antonio Airport provides pet relief areas for your convenience, but it still helps keep stress low to avoid being caught without a spare baggie!
Going Through Security
San Antonio Airport might not be the largest airport in Texas, but knowing what to expect when you go through security will make traveling easier nonetheless. One of the biggest stressors for pet parents is going through security. If you’re calm and informed, there’s nothing to worry about. Simply listen to the directions of the TSA agents, and have all appropriate documents ready for examination. Then, when it’s your turn to place your items on the conveyor belt to be x-rayed, remove your dog from his crate, and hold him in your arms or walk him on a short leash through the metal detector. Some people worry that their pet will have to go through the X-ray machine, but this is not standard practice.
